Prof. Sándor Beniczky

Bio

Sándor Beniczky is board-certified neurologist, clinical neurophysiologist, and epileptologist. He is also Clinical Professor of Neurophysiology at University of Copenhagen (Københavns Universitet), Head of the Clinical Neurophysiology Department at the Danish Epilepsy Centre ( Filadelfia Epilepsihospital og sociale tilbud.), Editor-in-chief of Epileptic Disorders, and a member of the Education Council, the Congress Council, and the Publication Council of the ILAE.

Sándor’s main research interest is EEG and epilepsy, focusing on electromagnetic source imaging, seizure detection, standardisation, and quality-assurance in clinical neurophysiology. He has supervised 11 Ph.D. students, is author of 181 peer-reviewed papers and 22 book chapters, and forms part of the core team for @EEGtalk.

  • Editor in Chief of Epileptic Disorders (the educational journal of the ILAE) (since Sep 2018)

  • Coordinator of Virtual Epilepsy Academy (VIREPA) teaching courses (since 2014)

  • Co-director of the Basic EEG course (2012-2018).

  • Member of the ILAE Education Commission/Epilepsy-Education Taskforce (since 2012)

  • Member of the ILAE certification task force

  • Participated in developing ILAE´s curriculum for epileptologists.
