Dr. Chris Greene
Bio
Dr. Chris Greene is a Lecturer and Principal Investigator in RCSI and FutureNeuro Research Centre and has been working in the blood-brain barrier space for about 12 years now. He did his undergraduate degree in Genetics & Cell Biology at Dublin City University and then his PhD in Genetics at Trinity College Dublin. Chris’ research revolves around how the blood vessels in our brains change in response to disease and whether these changes contribute to the disease itself, if we can measure these changes as biomarkers of disease, and if we can fix the damaged blood vessels to prevent disease. His research blends basic and clinical research, combining animal models of disease with clinical studies in patients. Chris and (Claire Behan) began working together about 5 years ago when they started a study measuring changes in blood vessel integrity in people with drug-resistant epilepsy and asking if a successful epilepsy surgery restores the integrity of these vessels.
